Today I am GRATEFUL

Today I am grateful. Yesterday I took Floor Barre and Horton. And, for the first time since the summer of 2009, I took out my roller blades and went for a wobbly 30 minute skate. I was so bummed I couldn't skate last summer and so I decided it was time. I was very careful and took it very slow, but it was exciting to be able to look fear head on and just do it.

Today I took Zumba, Floor Barre and Pilates. My body is tired and I am sore but I am so thankful. Each day that I can wake up and take a dance class, or go to rehearsal or perform is a blessing.

dance is life

"There are times when the simple dignity of movement can fulfill the function of a volume of words."
- Doris Humphrey -

I am grateful every single day that I can wake up, walk into the studio and dance. I am thankful for the soreness. I welcome the aches and pains. Today I am grateful that I can do what I love. I live in New York City. I take classes at the top studios in the world. And I dance for the greatest company in the entire world. I get to perform. I get to fly. I get to dance. And I get to be grateful every single minute of every single day.

DaNcE mArAtHoN....

On Sunday I danced for 6.5 hours. A combination of dance classes and Jam For Japan! On Monday morning I woke up 100% sore all over. And you know what? That made me 110% grateful! Why? Because after a complete rupture of my ACL and then having over 2 hours of reconstructive knee surgery and not being able to dance for 8 months....well, this morning was something to rejoice about! I am grateful that I am able to dance.

wOw

This was an amazing episode! Sara Ramirez deserves and Emmy!

"the brain is the human body's most mysterious organ. it learns. it changes. it adapts. it tells us what we see. what we hear. it lets us feel love. I think it holds our soul....but no matter how much research we do, no one can really say how all that delicate gray matter inside our skull works....and when it's hurt, when the human brain is traumatized, well, that's when it gets even more mysterious...."
